Post by Padraig on Sun Feb 07, 2010 1:01 pm

Mgo Names: Lass; Heleb
Clan: Clan-less; Squirtle Squad.
Date: 9th June, 2009.
Real Names: Gigi Xiao; Helen Rathbone.
Age: 17; 21.

Rich / Hayter:
Right well welocme to the interview!

Lass / Gigi:
**welcome

Heleb / Helen:
XD

Rich:
Great Start! The questions are mostly towards the both of but feel free to answer eachothers questions

Heleb:
*each others

Lass:
8D

Rich:
A Level English Literature...obviously worth it. Lets crack on then....Now, your MGO History. Please tell me about your overall gaming historys. Have you always been gamers? Or is it a recent thing you girls have picked up?

Heleb:
Always for me ^__^ had a mega drive first and worked up through quite a few, my sister is really into it as well and now works in the industry even. It's always been something I have spent my spare time doing

Lass:
well, ive always been into games... starting with a gameboy colour and your basic mario bros, pokemon blue... progressed through to a ps1 with stuff like crash bandicoot, spyro, tekken, mainly platformers. then i got a ps2 for christmas one year ... and had/have quite a number of games, and finally a ps3, which i didnt actually expect i'd get... but i was given one as a present so here i am! even though i only currently own 2 ps3 games =/

Heleb:
Haha I've only had my PS3 for a week or two so you beat me with that XD … I do have nearly 30 games for my 360 though

Lass:
hmm well ive hardly been playing =D

Rich:
Aww so you both been life long gamers, thats really cool. So if you both had ps2's were you aware of Mgo1?

Lass:
hmm not really! after starting mgo... i was like huhh? whats mgo2? whats mgo1 ?! there are multiple mgos?! i never considered online gaming back when i had a ps2... just messing around with split screen stuff (or tekken!) mgo is my first online experience.

Heleb:
I didn't have a PS2, I'm afraid I've missed out on the metal gear series, until about a year ago I bought a PS1 for £3 and it came with the first one, so I do intend on playing it! I'm going to work through them in order before I play 4, my sister has recently got a PS2 as well, so I have been gradually catching up on the playstation games. I have played online games, but I had never heard of MGO1, I was a hardcore CSS player though XD

Rich:
Wow! I actually envy you Heleb. I'm sure a lot of the vommunity would like to play through the series again without knowing the story line. Your in for an amazing experience, you really are.

Lass:
im sure the vommunity agree!

Heleb:
ahahaha XD I was tempted, but i restrained myself, learn some self control lass!

Rich:
>:/ omgzzz …. So what pushed you both towards MGS4 and then onto MGO then?

Heleb:
Haha, well, my boyfriend Tom, aka Freeze, as I'm sure you're aware, is hooked on it So after spending every weekend watching him play survival for 4 hours each night I decided to have a go And I built up about 100 hours on his PSN with his character, then he bought me a PS3 for my birthday a couple of weeks ago and now have spent 35 hours on my new one Like i said, I haven't touched MGS4 yet even though I own it, because I want to play the others first.

Lass:
hmm well mgs3 was really good that was actually my first mgs game... one of my friends bought it... but he was REALLY unspeakably awful at the game... he actually believed that it was a follow on from number 2?! not that i was aware of the storyline etc back then... but anyway... he was having serious problems in the boss battle vs the end... so one day when i was at his house, i managed to do that part for him. a few weeks later when he'd pretty much given up on the game.. i ended up borrowing it from him, and had a lot of fun playing through, collecting camos, messing around (beehives!) and just causing general chaos! so naturally when i got a ps3... my main thoughts were : mgs4, tekken 6 !!!

Rich:
Haha Lass you owned at guy at Mgs3, thats quality. And Wow Heleb, you do have a nice boyfriend and you must be a pretty relaxed girlfriend as there's no way my girlfriend would sit through 4 hours of Survival! So moving on then...The gamimg industry is clearly dominated by guys. Although the woman demographic is increasing significantly - some figures say that 40% of gamers are woman, although that includes internet flash games!

Lass:
well they hardly count, im so sick of bingo adverts on tv... let me tell you that!

Heleb:
Yeah and most are for things like 'cooking mama' on the ds

Rich:
So my question is; does mgo feel like It's dominate by guys? Do you feel like the minority on the game or is it hard to tell between guy and girl players?

Lass:
id say every player is individual i guess (regarding attitude), but i dont know many other girls on mgo

Heleb:
It feels like being a minority, but I wouldn't say that is a bad thing, I'm sure more girls are playing than we realize because it is hard to tell. I met a girl on it the other day who made friends with me because she was happy to find another girl on it It doesn't really make too much of a difference though, it's only annoying when you get random messages saying things like 'I kiss you baby!!' (thats the best I've had) and they just presumed I was from my character so he may have sent that to a guy It's not as bad as on some games though online

Rich:
Haha well your always going to get immature guys on Mgo - just look at Mike and Dinger! Right so Lass. You seem very disciplined with your real life and exams. How does Mgo fit into your real life and so you really have the discipline to turn it off and focus on exam revision?

Heleb:
Are you suggesting I don't have a real life?!

Rich:
No not at all Heleb. I've ust read that Lass has been allegedly revising hard for her exams, thats all.

Heleb:
Hmph, it's ok *returns to virtual world*

Rich:
='( sorry

Lass:
hmm of course i do xD last week i played all 3 days of survival which is VERY rare for me... and got quite fed up by the end of friday night! which i guess was perfect timing... considering i have a really important maths exam next monday... so i havent touched my ps3 since! just in case i get tempted... i usually take my ps3 offline anyway. but exams are far too important.

Heleb:
I remember when my mum stole my Gamecube and hid it so that I would do my revision

Rich:
Haha, Your not the only one that has happened to Heleb. I know of a couple of guys that's happened to....Moving on.....I'm quite interested in where you got your names from? I can sort of see where Lass comes from but Heleb?! What's a Heleb?

Heleb:
XD Can you not guess that from my current msn name?! B is next to N, some guy I used to play counterstrike with kept hitting the B instead of the N, and it stuck a bit like pwn XD

also... I'M A HELEB!

Rich:
Haha thats brilliant. Imagine Cekak Snake, or Gayter! haha. Thanks Helen. Lass, what's the story behind your name?

Heleb:
haha Gayter XD

Lass:
well im a big pokemon game fan and 'Lass' was a type of female trainer... so i thought it just sounded good, so decided to use it for myself!

Heleb:
Ohh yeah I remember her XD

She was the pretty one ^__^

Lass:
i couldve been a 'Picknicker' or 'JR Trainer' , but Lass sounds far more elegant see

Heleb:
you could have been the fan one who wears pikachu clothes and is fat

Lass:
pokefan xD ?! no thanks.

Rich:
Ahh interesting! Well here's an interesting question that I'm sure the entire Mgo community are dying to know. Does......err.......'Lady's Week / That time of the month' affect your Mgo skills?

Please excuse me for being crude

Lass:
Who came up with that xD !?

Heleb:
LOL

Wow!

Rich:
me

Heleb:
Nice one XD

Rich:
Thanks.

So do you find, u tend to meltdown more?

Heleb:
it's got me thinking... is that really the first thing guys think when they see a female playing mgo?!

Rich:
no its just us blokes....we don't understand it.

Lass:
i dont meltdown !

Rich:
yeah......okay

Heleb:
I can't say I've notice to be honest XD I suppose I may be a bit grumpier than usual and get angry with it

Lass:
even when im playing terribly... and teammates are moaning at me xD i'll simply type 'not bothered.'

Heleb:
you never get angry? that's a lie!

Lass:
id hardly call myself a consistent player... as im really not very active at the moment

Rich:
Haha thanks for your honest answers. So when you do play, do you strictly play for fun? Or do you try and retain some decent stats?

Lass:
i actually have 6 characters... considering i thought 'wow character slots are a real bargain! lets stock up on those!!!' so i guess i do avoid playing on my main chars on an off day... but whenever i play its always with friends and for fun... but winning makes it more enjoyable of course.

Heleb:
I can't say I don't get angry/fed up if I do awfully (Tom [Freeze] would call my bluff if i said that) but I'm not really pro enough to be too concerned, I'm happy being an average player I normally get more fed up if I'm playing by myself, but if I do badly when I'm playing with a friend/someone I don't know, I won't really care, it'l just be fun. Yeah, there would be no encouragement if you lost all the time, winning does make you feel good

And its a nice feeling when you level up but it is more for fun

Rich:
Yeah it is. Well thanks for that. I asked C4nif3x this, but just wondered what your opinions are of Mgof?

Lass:
mgof is fun! its nice to get to know the person behind the player i guess... plus theres usually some good advice to be found

Rich:
Thanks Lass. and Heleb?

Heleb:
It's good I've always looked at forums for online games I've played, it makes it become more of a community and more of a social experience I guess than to just play it by yourself. It's good to see other people's perspectives and get tips etc! And there are some good threads amongst the spam

somewhere in there... XD

Lass:
mgof is my first forum i think ive settled in nicely.

Rich:
Haha yeah, thats true. So Lass.....Mgof's sexiest female character! How does it feel to win that award? Obviously that's your biggest lifetime achievement...Is there anyone you would like to thank?

Heleb:
She would like to thank me

Lass:
hmmm im not quite sure! i guess its a good thing id like to thank everyone that voted for me, Helen, and GHD... couldnt live without one - its the secret to beautiful hair (Disco, Samsterw, Chris, SNIFE) !!

Heleb:
Hahaa XD

Rich:
LOL! Nice one, well Major Kusanagi would like to know "If you could delete one account on MGO whose would it be ?"

Lass:
XD thats a very hard question........

Heleb:
very hard...

Rich:
Haha a guy would have answered that by now...

Heleb:
I would delete Hayter's, and rename it, Gayter

Rich:
looooooooooooooooooooooooooool. Nice one.

Heleb:
haha thank you, stranger XD

Lass:
i really have no idea ! if i was capable of that... id just carry on playing normally... and the first to annoy me would lose their account !!!

Heleb:
ZOMG there is an evil side to Lass!!

Rich:
Fair enough. Well moving on, I've got a few smaller questions: Firstly Snake or Big Boss? Might be hard for you Heleb.

Heleb:
Gimme a month, and I'll give you a proper answer XD

Lass:
hmmm... solid snake! hes more of a hero! but big boss has a nicer face in mgs3 than the face camo in mgs4.

Rich:
Typical girly answer tbh =P Well what about music? Which Mgs main theme song do you prefer? Might be a bit difficult again, you could always say which music from the choice on mgo you like the most?

Heleb:
I like Dead cell from MGS2

(I just had to sing it to Tom [Freeze] to remember the name, I can never remember XD)

Lass:
id have to say calling to the night! its just beautiful, relaxing, emotional. when i actually play mgo i dont have any music on though.

Lass:
some of the instrumental scores are great too, but no names really come to mind!

Rich:
Thanks for that, both good choices I'm sure although I can't remember what Dead cell sounds like.

Heleb:
I just get it stuck in my head all the time

Rich:
Well thats about it for the interview. Thanks for giving some great answers. I'm sure the community would enjoy a change from the usual male interview. Maybe men will understand woman a bit more now....................probably not tbh. Anyways thanks Girls. I really enjoyed interviewing you two.

Heleb:
No problemo Twas fun!

Lass:
xD thankyou too!

Heleb:
Yep, thank you ^__^

Heleb:
also, interview Omnillion! XD

Lass:
yes, he has a beard!

Heleb:
see, insta win!

Rich:
Haha thanks....He's on my list. No worries.

Take care girls.

Heleb:

Lass:
